Booklice
Pesticide treatment of booklice is not typically required, but can be done if needed. Because they need moisture to survive, control can be achieved by drying out sources of moisture. This can involve disposing of infested items, fixing leaks, applying silica gel, or using a dehumidifier. In spaces with dirt floors such as crawlspaces or basements, a vapor barrier may be necessary to reduce the relative humidity.
Things you can do to help:
Storing boxes up off the floor can prevent booklice from infesting them, especially in areas that aren’t regularly inspected. Be careful of them hitchhiking into your home on moist firewood, it may be a good idea to let the wood dry out before storing it inside. If they are found in your cabinets, you can usually control them by removing the contents and using a blow dryer to dry out the inside. Any mold or mildew can be cleaned with a household cleaner, which will help by eliminating their food source.
