Fleas

Obtaining control of a flea infestation can be difficult, and requires the cooperation of the homeowner to help break their lifecycle. Insect growth regulators are effective both as a preventative measure before fleas become established, and in controlling existing flea problems. These can be applied inside for carpets and furniture, and outside around your pet’s favorite areas. Insect growth regulators last longer than traditional pesticides. Pesticides can be used to kill fleas in the yard and outside areas where your pet may roam.

Things you can do to help:

The homeowner’s part in controlling fleas is an important one. Your pet will need some sort of flea shampoo and possibly spray. Flea combs can also be used to remove fleas from pet hair. The pet’s bedding will need to be vacuumed or washed to get rid of immature fleas even if you can’t see them. This will prevent new adult fleas from emerging. Inside, vacuuming carpets and furniture is very important, being sure to dispose of any vacuum cleaner bags. The more often these things are done, the faster the flea’s lifecycle will be broken.
